Ice Breaker – Lunch Time Meet-Ups
I love ice breaker questions. These are questions used to help people get to know each other – to “break the ice” so to speak. I love to hear what other people have to say and how they think. So for today, I’m throwing out a simple ice breaker question. I’ll answer it first, then it’s your turn. Answer the question by leaving a comment for us all to enjoy. Thanks!
Question: If you could have lunch or coffee with three people you don’t know, who would they be?
My Answer: Hmmm…. (that’s me thinking).
1. I’d love to meet Bono. Not only am I a huge U2 fan, I’m intrigued by Bono’s call to action in ending poverty and injustice. I think he would have some amazing things to share.
2. I’d go with Barack Obama. If you must know, I didn’t vote for him. I’ve always leaned conservatively right (just ask my brother). Despite this, I think it would be very interesting to have some one-on-one time with Mr. Obama. I’d be curious to learn how he and his family keep first things first while living in the spotlight. I’d like to know how he manages his stress.
3. Lunch with Michael Jordan would be a treat. I grew up cheering for him. My bedroom was plastered in Michael Jordan posters. I loved watching his videos (like Come Fly With Me). I don’t get the impression that he’s made the best decisions outside of basketball, but I think it would be interesting to talk about his regrets along with his high points. I’d also like to talk to him about his faith. I have no idea where he stands.
So there you have it, my three lunch time meet-ups. Now it’s your turn….

You might be wondering where the “Stretched” thing comes from. For starters, when I was in high school at Rancocas Valley Regional High School, I was short – 5’6″ to start my junior year. Since then, I’ve grown to almost 6’6″. Many of my friends started calling me Stretch.
On a more recent basis, I often feel “stretched” by all the things going on around me – career, marriage, parenting, church, running, reading, friendships, extended family, relationship with God, etc. (in no particular order). My hope is that this blog will provide an opportunity to express some of my “stretch marks” and to possibly hear your thoughts as well. 
So here is a bit more about me: I’m a Christ-follower, husband, dad, son, uncle, engineer, runner, chicken farmer, gardener, saxophone player, operations manager, adventurer, and the list goes on…. I’m extremely blessed to have the best wife in the whole world. We met at Grove City College. We were engaged on top of the Eiffel Tower. We got married in Greensburg, PA. Now, we live in Schwenksville, PA with our two incredible kids, and our black lab.

I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t know Shane Barnard. I wouldn’t mind meeting the other two though.

So answer it both ways – dead and alive! Great list!
That’s a fun question. Two come to my mind.
1) David Crowder – favorite musician. Super creative and a strong Christian. Luckily he’ll be in my town this fall and I have tickets to meet him after his concert!
2) I sponsor a kid in Rwanda through Compassion. Compassion is a great ministry for helping impoverished children around the world and you should highly consider it if not already a part. I hope to meet my sponsor child one day.
It would be awesome to meet our sponsor kids. We sponsor a girl in Haiti through Compassion, and we sponsor a young boy in Kenya through CMF International. We almost had a chance to meet Jonathan last summer, but our trip plans were changed and the election in Kenya changed our plans.
